Watercolor worksop
for people afraid of watercolor
Watercolor can be an intimidating medium. I will help you understand it in a way that will make it’s unpredictable nature less scary.
We will cover some tricks and techniques that will help you keep your paintings as in-control as you like. We will discuss techniques including wet on wet, wet on dry, dry brush, splatting, scraping, salt application, and masking. We will have a demonstration and do a couple of exercises to help get a working understanding of how to use them and then create a painting from a shared reference.
About your instructor:
Sam Poulin is a Richmond based artist and Artspace member who has been painting for 30+ years. He has his BFA from VCU in illustration and design and his MFA from Parsons in NYC. He has work all over Richmond, including Artspace, Artworks, and Crossroads Art Center.
He has painted in oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor and so he understands the learning curve that watercolor can introduce for new artists as well as those used to other mediums. We will meet every second Sunday from September – December
