Sam Poulin
Simeon (Sam) Poulin is a Richmond, Virginia based artist, designer, and educator whose work captures the impermanent and experiential essence of spaces. Sam's work is focused on evoking a sense of mood and memory through color, texture, and composition. He uses light to capture the emotional connections that people have to a place and time. His subjects range from pastoral and rustic landscapes to dense urban scenes in various locations around the world.
Sam enjoys the lifelong process of mastering the elusive medium of watercolor. The unique properties of this medium lend themselves to his intent. He enjoys balancing control and chaos in his work and letting go of trying to totally control the output of his work. He enjoys constantly learning more about his medium and craft. He also finds tremendous reward in teaching others and sharing his experience and knowledge.
He has shown his work at Crossroads Art Center and Artworks in Richmond, VA and is a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and Artspace. Sam has work for sale at Passion Project and Little Wish Toys (via the Art Vending Machine!) in Richmond.
