BJ Kocen
Has been kicking around the RVA music scene for 20+ Years. Many Richmonders remember seeing him and Jennifer Glave at their 15-year run of Glave Kocen Gallery, but not many folks know his passion for performing and writing his own material, landing him first place in Ashland Coffee and Tea’s Singer Songwriter Showdown and opening slots for notable performers like Todd Snider and Paul Curreri. His albums “The Breaks” and “Searching for Signal/ Old Lake” are a who’s who of RVA musicians who all have faith in BJ’s Soul Folk and Genre-blending material.
For the last ten years, BJ has been collaborating with Steve Bassett, forging a dynamic writing partnership. They are about to release their first official recording this year, which includes the singing talents of Justin Laughter and another round of Richmond royalty, including Tyler Williams of The Head & The Heart and Jeff Bunn of the P-Funk Mob.
