"Charming’s Quest"
illustrated by ELIZABETH EUBANKS

Dear Diary,
Today was crazy. I spent the whole day riding around the picturesque town of the charming kingdom. I love all of the small little shops. Looking at all the shops’ windows made me feel like a kid again. The sight of the painted rocking horse in corner of Tinkle Toyshop reminded me of many childhood afternoon adventures upon the castle’s trusty wooden steed.
Back to why I’m riding into town. Last night a beautiful young lady came to the ball in a spectacular blue gown. The silk was so soft, and the dress flowed elegantly as she danced. She wore slippers made out of glass. She never told me her name—which is weird because a girl like her must have the most lovely name in the kingdom. We were dancing all night, but suddenly, the clock struck 12:00. She ran off so fast, like a cheetah in Africa. I ran after her as fast as my legs could carry me. She was too fast. All that was left was her sparkling glass slipper on the red carpeted stairs. And that is why I’m riding this small, rusty bike around town trying to find the beautiful young lady.
