"My Bike Ride to Walmart"
illustrated by SANDY BASHAM

One day as I was peddling my bike to Walmart, I passed a little pumpkin riding a neon pink bike with silver star stickers on the frame. I thought I might pass out in shock when I saw him, but I continued riding. A few miles later, I passed a burning building on the right and a pink school bus on the left with aliens inside playing with dust bunnies. When I finally made it to Walmart, I saw a goat running through the store with a pink bowtie. He trotted out of the store and leapt into the open door of a Honda Odyssey covered in pink spots in the parking lot and drove away. On my way home, Narwhals and red-eyed squirrels were chasing me with $1000 dollar bills. Just then, the sun exploded and the sky turned purple. I was so exhausted; I fell asleep on a bed of rocks on the side of the road. When I woke up the next day, I noticed I had a broken arm. But then, I saw the love of my life approaching with a bicycle built for two. We decided to go on a bike ride at sunset and have a picnic under a tree. We ate pumpkin pie and pumpkin seeds and got married.
