My artwork developed in earnest after my divorce. Managing a full time career and rebuilding my life was quite an undertaking. I've never had a breakdown during the execution of a task, rather during those moments at rest, when I have a moment to think of all that lies ahead.
The cicada shells represent the evolution I've gone through in my life. Every time I achieve something I didn't think I could or I change and grow as a person, I shed the skin of my former self and evolve. The cicada shells represent the shells or skins I have shed to become the person I am today.
