Ralph Eaton, Roanoke, VA

I recently did a site-specific sculptural installation for the Taubman Museum of Art titled Fuzzy Kudzu. Kudzu Clusterfuck is derivative of that project. Kudzu is a invasive vine that grows out of control throughout the South, transforming the countryside into an otherworldly landscape. I seek to mimic the kudzu plant's organic process of transformation in my fabrication process by making an out of control growth of familiar objects into something unfamiliar. Additionally, my use of the word kudzu is a metaphor for various aspects of our culture that are out of control, such as politics, consumerism, environmental degradation, etc.
