Richmond, VA artspace, is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibitions running May 27 through June 19, 2005.

Exhibiting in the Frable gallery is Karen Hubacher.  Her recent show, titled “Relative Geography,” explores textures and shapes inspired by the urban landscape. While reflecting the artist’s need to impose a sense of order from disorder, these mixed media, constructed paintings are visual manifestations of an atmosphere of danger, hyper-alertness, suspicion and fragility.  Karen Hubacher’s work has been reviewed in The New York Times and The Washington Post. Her work is included in the collections of the International Monetary Fund, John Hopkins University, the American Embassy in Poland, and many other corporate and private collections in the United States and Europe.

Local artist John Bailey’s exhibit, titled “Labyrinth,” is a collection of twelve drawings (crayon on polyester chiffon), each seven feet high installed in the Helena Davis gallery. To enter the space is to enter the “Labyrinth.” John is a “skilled draftsman who focuses on the male nude. Solidly constructed, his figures are texturally enhanced and volumetrically defined with distinctive and energetic line” (CeCe Bullard, Richmond Times Dispatch). John Bailey is a member at Artspace gallery.

Exhibiting in the Main gallery are local artists Nancy Rice, Annette Norman, Beverly L. Nelson, and Peg Childress. This group of women will present their recent photographic works. Each photographer exhibits regularly throughout Virginia. Nancy Rice and Annette Norman are Artspace members.
