Annual Poetry/Prose performance/reading by Marian Hollowell and Lawrence Proman
Marian Hollowell is one of the founding members of Artspace, and its performance series in which she continues to dedicate much love and spirit.
She began her career as a singer and actress [attended VCU as a music major, applied voice].She first performed on Richmond stages at The Virginia Museum Theatre in "Camelot" as Queen Guinevere. Marian went on to perform at most Richmond dinner theaters including Barn Dinner Theatre, Playhouse 3200, Playhouse 301, Haymarket Dinner Theatre, Swift Creek Mill Playhouse, and Theatre IV.
She has since added other art forms to her palette of life: poetry, prose, ink drawings, pastels, acrylic /mixed media, assemblage/sculpture, and printmaking/collagraphs, monotypes, plexiglas drypoint. Her ink drawings can be found on the inside liner of the recently released Floating Folk Festival CD.
As a poet, Marian has read at numerous places around town for the past 19 years. She has been published in Out O' the Blue Review, Slant, Poems of New Bohemia Anthology, The Fan Scan, Throttle, Caution, Fantasia, Eugene Oregon's Poetic Space, and Lumina /poetry and prose from the Allegheny region.
Lawrence Proman, a former computer scientist, theologian and Mayan archaeologist, is consumed by theological, political, and anthropological subjects which usually lead to mirth.
He is a prolific poet and searcher, a seeker of sounds, stories, and visions. He has been published numerous times [poetry and technical publications], and has been giving public readings across the country for 25 years. Lawrence completed a five act play this year entitled, 'Lester and Ida' and is in the search process for a theatre company to produce it.
Lawrence loves jamming with his musician friends, one of whom is Forrest McDonald [Atlanta,Ga.], who , on his inside liner notes of his latest CD "Finger Lickin Blues' mentioned his buddy Lawrence [who himself wrote lyrics and sang on a cut from Forrest's previous CD]. He also writes and sings for the "VooDoo Screamers' found on www.mp3.com. His poetry can be previewed and purchased at http://www.pigdog-press.com/lmp/. You can contact Lawrence by email at: StCloudLawrence@netscape.net
These urban jungle poets have been giving public readings together for 15 years. The "Everybody Play Nice" series consists of all new material written within the last year. They will begin their program cross firing Haiku. Keeping up with their poetic [and otherwise] view of the world within and around them [and otherwise] throughout the year…they write and perform.
