Annette Postel, in her first performance in the U.S., will present the best of her Chanson Revue (Golden 20's through the present) in Richmond, Virginia. Her program includes classical songs by Weill/Brecht, Bruehne /Balz, as well as contemporary compositions.

Accompanying her on the piano is German pianist Patrick Kirst, currently studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

Performances will take place at "Artspace," Friday April 13th @ 8:00 p.m and at the "Blue Bottle," Saturday April 14th @ 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Educated as a classical soprano, she has earned several national and international awards:

  • The 1997 German Chanson and Erika Koeth Opera Award
  • The February 2000 Lotte Leyna Singing Award sponsored by the Kurt Weill Foundation (NY). Jury member Teresa Stratas of the Metropolitan Opera, NY, commented about her: "Annette, you have everything: voice, musicality, beauty and heart. Love, Teresa Stratas."

    Annette Postel is very well known, not only in southwestern Germany where she lives, but in Berlin, Frankfurt and Hanover as well. Some of her most impressive performances in Germany include:

  • Chanson Revue at the Expo, Hanover 2000.
  • Several chanson events in the "Volksbuehne Berlin."
  • The role of Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady."
  • Classical Goethe Music Shows for the Schumann Foundation, Frankfurt.

    In addition to her stage appearances, she has performed and been interviewed on television and radio shows. Her Golden 20's Chanson Revue" Champus Violett" has brought her nationwide fame.

    German critics have made the following comments:
