May 4-27, 2001 Opening Reception
Guest Juror, Diego Sanchez Diego Sanchez, a native of Bogota, Colombia, South America, has taught visual art to students of all ages for many years. He has worked with numerous community-based organizations and programs, including the "Teaching New Talent" program at the Hand Workshop Art Center in Richmond and the William Byrd Community House, and has conducted workshops in Richmond area schools, and for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Richmond Printmaking Workshop, Longwood College, and Mary Baldwin University. He served as a panelist for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' Fellowship Program and the Visual Arts Award Program for the Maryland State Arts Council. Mr. Sanchez was a recipient of a Theresa Pollack Art Award. He is actively involved with numerous community organizations and has served on the boards of the City of Richmond Public Art Commission, Richmond Arts Council's Partners in the Arts, the Hand Workshop Art Center, 1708 Gallery, and ART 180. |
